If I book a QF flight from BNE to Queenstown that arrives in Auckland at 23:55 and connects to a NZ flight at 12:05 the following day, can I leave the airport and book an over night stay at the Novotel Airport Hotel then recheckin the following morning for my flight to Queenstown . Will I be able to take my luggage or will it be checked through to Queenstown? I am a bit confused so would welcome any help with this. Thanks.

Should not be an issue, I would imagine you could get your luggage then drop it off next day.

You would have to collect your luggage and clear immigration formalities at Auckland.

Thanks for your replies. I was concerned as both flights are on the same booking number rather than booked as 2 separate flights.

I think that you will have to do something as my experience returning to Melbourne from Rarotonga via Auckland flying into Auckland 1 am (ish) was that the transit area closed and did not reopen until about two hours before the first morning flight out. Not an exciting airport to sit around in.
