I don’t think they are on the SYD route yet.

3. British Airways planes equipped with the Club World Suite

  • Airbus A350-1000: 10 of 10 (100%)
  • Boeing 777-200: 20 of 29 (69%)
  • Boeing 777-300: 5 of 14 (35%)
  • Boeing 777-9: 0 (18 ordered in total)
  • Boeing 787-10: 2 of 2 (100%, 12 ordered in total)
  • Boeing 787-9: 0 of 18 (0%)
  • Boeing 787-8: 0 of 12 (0%)
  • Airbus A380: 0 of 12 (0%)

I went halfway on a BA 787-900 from SYD-SIN on 4/4/2022 and this was the Club World seats...
Rear facing was no issue, but a complete lack of space or accessible storage (not even for my water bottle!) was terrible - much preferred my subsequent flight in PE on SQ

Was the seat /bed comfy? Could you put a small bag underneath ...something ?

Just looked up some photos, unfortunately none of the actual seat space...
[EDIT] screen grab from a quick messenger video I took - apologies for poor quality [/EDIT]

Was on aircraft G-ZBKB in seat 7A on BA16. I had the ticket as a QF reward, paid for seat selection to secure the "preferred seat" after research about the best options.

I'm quite broad, and found the seat uncomfortable, with my left arm forced inward because of the hard shell of the seat partition. it was okay when fully reclined, but not great, and I put extra weight on the foot rest at one stage trying to reposition myself and it collapsed :|

The storage was a small drawer down by my feet (on the left side for this seat) which required some scooting forward in my upright seat to reach down and access.

The positioning of the screen was not front-on either, which was uncomfortable and before long I switched off the screen to listen to music instead. I remember the noise-cancelling headphones seemed useless at removing the background engine/air-con noise and I'd forgotten my Bose this trip.

Service was good, but I'm low maintenance, food and drink were no problem that I recall.

Overall I would avoid in the future if other options at a similar fare price.

@bussyboy just pondering choices for husband's UK trips next year. We are probable going to start looking at Best fare of the day . More so husband just needs to be able to lay down. He is a grumpy old thing if he doesn't get that

At least BA is finally replacing those mediocre old business (Club World) seats. They’ve been around for 15-plus years and weren’t good even at the start.

Seat comfort is of course subjective. But for me I find the old the seats very comfortable (window seats). Lots of soft cushioning and long enough for me. Not so great having to climb over someone, or sitting on an aisle.

Screen going up and down for meals, drinks and communicating with the FA. I felt rather boxed-in, also. I don’t recall much storage space. And 8-across seating seemed a bit lame. Nothing positive for me I’m afraid.

I'm pretty broad but found BA Club World seats (as beds) more comfortable than many others. Roll on the roll-out though

I’m not convinced of the 8 across thing… many other airlines have something similar even if it’s dressed up in staggered or ‘q-suite’ type arrangements. You might technically have 4 abreast in the likes of Qantas or United or whatever, but there’s a massive cubbyhole taking up around half of the space.

The old club world isn’t cutting edge, it has flaws. But it was the first of its kind. And it still offers a very comfy sleep :)

At least it seems to be on the way out. Anyway, we all see things differently. What is important for one, is not for another. 😉

Don't disagree, but isn't the B789 only 7 across?

As far as storage is concerned, I seem to remember that the window seats on the upper deck of the A380 have storage bins under the windows. Another advantage of the window seat is that you won’t be disturbed by anyone climbing over your legs, but the disadvantage is that you will have to climb over someone’s legs to get to the aisle.

Anyone done this trip recently ? Just wondering what the quality is like nowadays
They are stuck in a time warp, cannotFF recommend them, service isn’t too good and business class was woeful. We used or qantas FF points to get the tickets so I suppose we were shunted to what I believe is a third rate airline, sorry BA

I am booked on BA15/16 later this month. So far the seat maps are showing the old J. I am actually ok with it as I only paid the W fare, and get my choice of seats - rearmost rear facing window seat. ;)

The little drawer is a waste of space.

I don't know when we will see the new J coming to AU.
