Hi everyone

I'm booked on BA16 and BA982 from SYD-SIN-LHR-TXL this coming 6 June 2020 and I haven't seemed to received any comms from them about flight cancellation. I've booked through one of those online travel agents (Skiddoo). Does anyone know if BA is refunding tickets - I've seen suggestions that they will, however, I see that BA policy doesn't mention anything about refunds and it's all flight credits.

Does anyone have any experience with Skiddoo/BA? Does anyone know if BA does refund, will Skiddoo have any obligation to pass that onto the consumer?

Finally, BA has cancelled a separate LHR-TXL flight subsequent to this and I have received an email from this. No mention of refund in the email. Could anyone give me any advice on this?

(I also have a Ryanair flight lol, which I'm not hopeful of getting anything from but we'll see).

Thank you in advance!

The BA policy can be found here: Latest information | Coronavirus | British Airways ... and towards the end of the page it has a heading 'are you entitled to a refund' (the answer is that if BA cancels your flight, you are entotled to a refund).

It also advised that if you have booked through an agent, you need to contact the agent.

Just Received my cancelation of flight from BA for June 18, Bangkok/ LHR Ret, now to look there policy , a quick glance mentions vouchers, any more advice would be much appreciated.

@bobe My understanding is that if BA cancel the flight then your options are to reschedule, take a voucher valid until 30 April 2022 or call to discuss refund options.

Did you book direct with BA? If yes, you need to know your booking fare conditions.

Read above, and follow the link below.

I booked direct with BA , flights from Bangkok to LHR , In J . Tried to ring the UK contact number it s a nightmare, what would the chances of a call to my credit card ? And give it a try for refund with them ?

I went to the trouble of finding my fare basis codes, using the Finnair facility that sent a copy of the eticket containing the fare basis: Order your e-ticket receipt

Because Finnair and BA have same back-end system, the Finnair facility sent me a full copy of the BA eticket.

An example of a fare basis code from my booking : ELNC00U2

I looked up the fare codes on Expert Flyer, and the J leg was:

In my case, HKG-LHR-HKG in a mix of J & PE, the fare codes indicated I could cancel for a refund less $250 change fee. Armed with that knowledge I rang at 9am when AUS phones open, was transferred to India. They confirmed I was entitled, and set it in motion. Took 5+ weeks for the refund, but it came through after some follow-up.

Just a update, went on BA Facebook page , got onto a option for complaints , quite a few people asking about the uk number to ring , the number Is as stated on the website +442032500145, when you get thru to the recorded message and options DONT PRESS ANY OPTIONS, IGNORE AND WAIT TILL THE END, YOU WILL THEN BE PUT ON HOLD , IWAITED 6 min , got thru to a agent and I gave him security details etc etc, and was told I would get a FULL refund in my bank account within 10 working days, other people on the Facebook page had similar experience and getting thru within min, if you to options ( number2 ) you will get cut off, SO NO OPTIONS. GOOD LUCK

Update on refund from BA,monies went in to PayPal account last night, was told about 10 days , took 2 . Sooo well pleased , GOOD LUCK TO OTHERS ALSO.

We’re (we were) flying BA domestically in SA in July. I’ve heard nothing from BA about these flights and finally decided to see if there was anything in the news.

Comair who operates BA in SA is about to go into some form of administration as their fleet is grounded and will not be flying again until October at the earliest.

Why on Earth hasn’t BA just cancelled our flights? I’ll get on that number quoted above and find out what’s happening. Maybe like with Qantas I just have to take the gamble and wait for the cancellation to happen.

I called BA last night and followed the instructions of just going through all of the options and waiting. Took all of 30 seconds to be answered after I did that. Thank you for the instructions.

Unfortunately our flights haven't yet been cancelled, even though if I try to book them I can't. The lady was lovely. She said BA was hoping flights would be in the air from the start of July. I said to her that isn't what the South African press is saying. She suggested that we wait until much closer to the date, or until it's actually cancelled as we'll get full refunds then. It's now a waiting game.

Was booked BA revenue ticket for Mid June. They cancelled flight. Options are: Reschedule, Voucher or Call to Discuss.
Called right on opening time of call centre (8am GMT) and got through to a helpful rep instantly, refund received about 3 days later.

Just wanted to drop a short note to thank everyone for their assistance. Managed to get the refund from BA directly for my LHR-TXL flight and after a protracted 3 month tussle with Skiddoo (an Australian based online travel agent), they have finally agreed to refund my BA flight from SYD-SIN-LHR-TXL return!

Greatly appreciated. :)

Pleased for you , a great feeling eh?

Yeah, initially Skiddo was saying that I wasn't even eligible for a flight credit due to force majeure etc but then they relented. And then when I called British Airways and they indicated that I was eligible for a refund, I was quite emboldened and had done chargebacks/complaints to Fair Trading etc.

Called BA yesterday to get a refund for cancelled flights in July. Used the Aussie number and waited an hour and four minutes for the call to be answered. Apparently the call centre was just opening up with people coming back to work (India). Couple of security questions and the fare was refunded. No push to take a voucher. Told about 5-7 days for the cash to hit the credit card.

We received emails on Saturday morning advising that our SA internal flights had been cancelled. Called Saturday arvo and spoke to a very nice guy in the BA call centre in Cape Town. He pit through the refunds without an issue. Sounds like it might be multiple credits on the card as we’d paid for seat selection. I wonder how close we’ll get to what we paid with currency fluctuations. We got a refund, that’s all that matters. Told will possibly take up to five weeks. I pushedAnd said way better than Qantas. Two more to go...
