Burn rate for Velocity

Hi All,

I'm new to the velocity FF program. Sorry if this sounds silly but am I right in saying that the burn rates for international travel using velocity points is pretty poor? As far as I can tell burn rates for domestic travel is much better?

This is coming from past experiences using VS flying club, MH Enrich, CX Asiamiles and SQ Krisflyer.
