Hi All,

i am thinking of booking a trip either to the US or an Around the World (not necessarily an RTW Trip) in Business Class.

i was going to go with Air NZ to the USA or CX or SIN or maybe Emirates for the ATW trip.

Generally speaking,, among the Skytrax TOP 10 - is the Business Class fairly well much for muchness, and particularly so among say the top 3 or 5 ?

i know it will/does vary a bit in terms of food, lounge access, drinks, check-in processes, etc.

But if you were mainly interested in the seat and seat comfort - flat bed is not necessarily that important - can you go too far wrong if you go with say one of the Top 10 - especially is there is a big price difference - noting that you MAY get what you pay for LOL.

any ideas please ?

Yes can be a big difference. Even within the one airline. I would avoid Emirates unless they were A380 routes only as their 777s are a step below. Otherwise I don't reckon you can go wrong with CX, SQ, NZ or QR.

I agree - significant differences between 'top 10' airlines (or all airlines) in seat and seat comfort.

Look for:

* Direct aisle access or step over some-one (or be stepped over); - eg Air Canada and others - herringbone layout and direct aisle access Vs Qantas, no
* Space to put all the bits 'n pieces - eg Lufthansa there is b-all!!
* Extra amenities - eg Qantas seat cover 'duvet' and PJs Vs most others, none
* Width of seat/bed - eg SQ very wide; United narrow
* Angles flat bed Vs horizontal flat (eg some Qantas still have angles flat beds)
