Hi all,

Hoping I can get some clarification or guidance for my SQ award redemption.

Yesterday my husband and I attempted to each redeem a business saver fare BKK - SIN - MEL.
My booking was confirmed, however my husband received a technical error message and the booking did not get processed. We did get charged taxes for both bookings.
Upon investigation, my husband was put on a waitlist despite not registering for this.

I understand if there are absolutely no seats available for redemption, however when we check SQ for BKK - SIN and SIN - MEL on separate tickets for the same flights, the seats are available.

We have called the call centre to ask:
- Why my husband was charged the fee despite not successfully booking
- Why he was put on a waitlist when he didn't register for this
- Why there is no availability for BKK - SIN - MEL, but there is for the same flight number BKK - SIN + SIN - MEL

Unfortunately they were of no help to us.

Hoping anyone on here will be able to give guidance on what we can do now... We don't want to fly separately. And had considered my husband taking an earlier flight BKK - SIN, then jumping on the same flight SIN - MEL with me. But even this option is no longer available...

It’s revenue control/yield management. SQ is willing to give an award on the two separate sectors, but not willing to do so BKK-MEL. Here it’s the opposite of married segments, where you might have had availability BKK-MEL, but no availability on the separate BKK-SIN and SIN-MEL sectors.

Happens with just about every airline, with paid fares and awards.
