I'm new to this board, and hoping for some help in navigating the complex world of FF upgrades....

I'm currently Bronze Qantas FF, was Silver, and will be back to Silver shortly, maybe even Gold.

I'm looking to travel Perth to London and was hoping to get an upgrade based on points. From what I can determine, I will need to book a flexible fare and then I may be eligible for an upgrade. I'll have close to 200,000 points and would like to upgrade my wife and I.

What is:
a) the likelihood of getting such an upgrade for both of us?
b) the best way to go about doing so?

Thanks in advance.

Firstly welcome aboard Bakks, second when are you travelling?

Basically as a Silver or even a Gold your chances of getting one upgrade let alone two are minimal at best.

The best advice I can give is be prepared to travel in the cabin you booked.

Flying direct PER-LHR, your chance of a points upgrade is currently nil. Why is that? You can only upgrade on a QF flight number on QF metal.

You can do this either by going via MEL or SYD on QF, or have the leg to DXB on EK, and catch up with QF from DXB to LHR if possible.

Being a lowly bronze or silver, I wouldn't expect your chance to be super high.

It really depends on loads on individual flights. I am Platinum flying SYD-NRT return in the next two weeks and my flights are almost oversold in all classes so no chance
of upgrade for me.

Flying in August, so a fairly popular time. I figured my chances were very slim, but thought it warranted some investigation.
