This is what happened when I tried to upgrade a domestic flight on the Qantas website. Does it mean I am in the que?

I would say no upgrade seats available. Try requesting the upgrade again at another time!

You could have this message for a couple of reasons;

1) You have a red-e-deal fare which you cannot upgrade
2) The are no upgrade seats (i think QF uses U class) or they have
more requests than seats available

And don't forget Platinum members have the trump card over all other status members!

Good luck, and don't forget to ask again as soon as you get to the QP, very rare, but you never know your luck.

Unless there has been a recent rule change, I don't think you can waitlist for a domestic upgrade. Therefore there is no queue to join.

It means that you are in the queue...for going regularly to the QF website and trying again. Of course, access to KVS Availability tool or ExpertFlyer software would assist you in not having to aimlessly keep clicking on the upgrade icon (as you'd know whether there were any U seats available).

Domestic upgrades work differently from those for International.

For international upgrades you go into a queue if your booking is eligible for an upgrade. It's only "when you check in" that you will find out if you have been successful.

For domestic upgrades, a Business Class Award seat seat MUST be available on the flight at the time of the request. If one isn't, what you posted is the message you get.

If a booking is INELIGIBLE for an upgrade, the message is:

Upgrade - not available

An upgrade request is not available on this itinerary due to one or more of the following reasons. The flight(s) are:

• restricted or heavily discounted airfares (for example Red e-Deal flights)
• purchased with Frequent Flyer points
• do not have an upgradeable cabin
• not operated by Qantas
• a prize ticket or any other promotional offer
• part of a group booking (10 or more passengers). Contact a Qantas Office for an upgrade on these bookings ...
