Hi all,

Never flown United but recently booked a flight LAX to PVR.

Booked basic economy with the view to then pre-purchase checked bags after ticket purchase (as they dont allow you to add on a bag at time of booking the ticket).

When I click the option to add bags it says "Pay for bags at the airport". I queried this with chat support who said because I paid in AUD it will not let me pre-purcahse bags online, can only do at check in at the airport.

I am just nervous at check in they might not let me pay to check my bag or say the cargo is full etc etc. The chat support person assured me there is no chance of that happening, but for anyone with experience here please shed some light on this for me.

Thanks!

That seems odd to me, I've purchased extras (though not specifically bags) online in AUD with United a few times and never had any issues. You could try giving the call centre a ring and see if they can help, I've found them to be (surprisingly) very good.
