I can't find anything about it on their website, but does anyone know if it is possible to buy an extra 10kg when making your booking like Jetstar allows? Or do you just have to hand over the credit card at check-in and let the pain begin?

I haven't seen that facility on the Jetstar website. I did note that their standard allowance is 20kg while we (Virgin Blue) have 23kg on domestic routes which puts you slightly ahead. Our staff are generally not naz_s about being a few kilos over the limit, so odd are you could probably get away with 25-26kg before being asked to fork out. Corporate Plus and Premium Economy fares both come with 32kg although the fare difference is likely to be greater than the excess luggage charge.

Edit - sorry, only just re-read the thread title and realised you were refering to International (Pacific Blue) where our allowance is 20kg. Still couldn't find on JQ website where you can buy an extra 10kg flat.

Hi Dave,

I just double checked then - making a dummy booking PER - DPS with Jetstar I had the option of buying 5, 10, or 20 kgs of excess baggage in the payment screen.

It's on the JQ website after 'Passenger Details
