I'm going to NYC in April and am looking at buying a ticket to see the Knicks play (never been to an NBA game before)

Not looking to spend too much, but where would the best place to get tickets be? Looking on nba.com - obviously the official site would be the safest, are there any other sites that may have discounted or better value (as far as position) tickets available?

I don't want to I leave it until the day as I might miss out..

What are everyone's experiences?

I have bought tickets several times to see the Mighty Ducks (yes they are an ice hockey team at Anaheim) - just logged onto the official website and purchased on line (Ticketmaster was selling agent) and collected tickets at the venue on the day. Had to use the "El Segundo" method for the credit card.

Yes, I've used Ticketmaster to buy NFL and concert tickets in several places in US. Works well, and at least the prices are "face value" rather than the highly inflated resale (i.e. scalper) sites.

Whilst I cannot specifically answe OP's question - I would recommend everyone visiting USA to get tto a basket ball game if possible.

A group of 10 of us were in New Orleans March 2010 - my niece arranged tix to a NO Hornets home game in NO - she bought tickets to the ALL YOU CAN EAT / ALL YOU CAN DRINK corporate section for like US$135 or so.

Now I am first to admit that Hornets may not be most fashionable or desireable team to watch - and AYCE yank food and AYCD yank beer and wine aint the top of the tree - but what a fabulous nioght we had - would do it again in a heart beat.

I've seen the knicks play a few times at MSG. I always just get the ticket directly from the NY Nicks web site. I'm also signed up to their spam list and sometimes they have specials on tickets for upcoming games.

I don't think I've ever had any problems using an Australian credit card or address.

I usually get seats up high and at the back of the arena. They're pretty cheap and there's next to no leg room. But they're close to the beer and hot dogs. :)

I'll second the StubHub option. I've used them on 2 separate occasions. Once to buy Yankees tickets and once to buy Giant tickets (both MLB games) and the service was smooth and very simple.

Hmmm, when i was in NYC last year i was there with a friend and i think he bought tickets to a NY Mets baseballl game from some place where people who may have had season tickets but weren't using the ticket that night resold at a cheaper rate, I'll see if he remembers the place... goign to Miami in May, if NBA seasons till going might try to catch a game with LeBron in it...

StubHub does exactly that.

Thanks for the Stubhub suggestion - got an average ticket for US$91 incl fees and charges which would've cost ~$160 from the official online store! Will report on my experiences after the trip.

if you check out Ticketwood.com .. which will aggregate multiple re-sale sites for you. They're showing similar seats to what stubhub has
