Feling a bit sad, just dropped from Gold to Silver.:(

For a number of years I had managed to just scrape up enough SC to retain Gold but illness prevented that this year. I had hoped to get the offer for double status credits or the email asking what my future travel plans were but I guess the 140 SC I had earned in the first few months of my year were too low to trigger any such offers.

My Qantas club membership which has been on hold for some years has surfaced and I am showing as Qantas Club Silver. I can't seem to find on the web when my Qantas Club expires and as it's a corporate scheme that I no longer have involvement with I suppose I will have to wait for new card(s) to arrive.

On the bright side Silver is better than Bronze which is what I will be in a years time unless I fly more with Qantas.:)

Getting relegated only became a problem when Mrscove went down to Bronze and lost her seat selection by not doing 4 eligible flights in the year.today she is back thru the Any Seat redemption system which we call JASA.

Thanks for kind words and suggestions.:D

Just been delving into JASA. Thought I might take a short break in NZ and take advantage of the Crown Plaza Auckland pointbreaks. Found that when I looked for business JASA seats return SYD-ALK for some dates early Nov the points required (180k) was twice as much than if I looked for two one-way flights (46k and 41k) on the same days. Obviously there are some tricks to this.

What do the experts think is a good deal for JASA to NZ?

You need to look at dates where there is classic award availability in business class.

However, I can see ~46K SYD-AKL but nothing less than ~135K on the return for the same booking.

However, if you book as two one-ways, i.e. SYD-AKL and AKL-SYD you can get that 46K from SYD and 42K from AKL. ;)

I guess if you were going to go to NZ, why not just take a LAN special. I think the best deals that are found with regard to JASA’s and FASA’s aren’t necessarily on the most convenient days, if they were, Qantas would be doing something wrong :p
