Can I cancel only one passenger in a 2 pax reward booking?

I'm in a situation where it looks like my partner may be unable to travel with me on a J QF reward booking LAX-SYD.

I'm still going to travel by myself and wondering if it's possible to cancel my partner's reward ticket but not mine.

I believe I read once that I may need them to split the booking into different PNRs and then cancel one. If that's correct, has anyone successfully done this?

I'm also super nervous about asking an inexperienced CS rep to do this and having them cancel the entire itinerary.

Any advice is appreciated.

You can. I've spent all day doing it with an untrained person and it is a nightmare (but it shouldn't be)

I would have thought if you separate the booking on line into two passengers then you could cancel one of them. I do know for a fact that if you separate there will be a new booking reference for the person you chose to separate out from the original booking but I have no experience in relation to cancelling one of the split bookings. Why don't you first separate then call and ask about cancelling one of the booking?
