Can I earn FF points if I pay with paypal?

Hey guys, I did a search on google and also on here and I wasn't able to find a definite answer

I was wondering;

If I had a credit card (such as the woolworth/qantas credit card) that offers frequent flyer points when using it to purchase goods; Could I link this credit card to my paypal account in order to pay for things on eBay and earn points for those purchases?

Basically this is the scenario;

I buy lots of stuff off eBay each month using paypal to pay for it 95% of the time. I just want to know if I could earn FF points by using a FF points credit card to fund the transaction rather than my debit mastercard.

Yes you can.

A PayPal purchase is just like any other credit card purchase. So yes, there is not reason why a PayPal purchase from a linked credit card will not earn any credit card reward points. My PayPal account uses my Amex credit card as the primary source of funds and I certainly earn Amex Membership Rewards points for any eBay/PayPal purchases using my Amex as the source of funds.

Unfortunately you can't add an Amex card anymore to Paypal AU. There are some lucky ones that were able to link an Amex card before paypal stopped allowing it.

Yes, that is indeed the case now. But any Visa or Mastercard that earns any sort of reward points for purchases should earn points for any eBay purchase for which PayPlay is used.

Yes, though if you fund payments from your CC rather than a bank account (and they are for personal payment - i.e. depends on particular ebay sellers) then you will be hit with a 2.4% fee. I.e. not worth it; your much better off using your bank account.

wouldn't this be a great way to get points? just transfer money to each other. 100 points for $2.40.

not a great earn rate, but still cheaper than buying top-up points from qantas

This has never affected any of my PayPal transactions, so no need for me to change.

The seller who accepts the credit card payment pays the 2.4% + 30cent processing fee.
