Can I farm points any other way?

Hey can you tell me more about how to do this? Am I buying the vouchers through AMEX first, earning points from that and then buying VISA prepaid cards through Woolies?

Hi Steve,

Firstly the key to this strategy is you need to have the AMEX Platinum Edge credit card. This is card has the higher 3 pts / $ earn on supermarket spend (Woolies, IGA, Coles etc) - which also includes Wish Gift Card (Woolworths Group) purchased through the everydaygiftcards.com.au portal.

Wish Gift cards can be purchased through this portal at a 5% discount using a variety of source. Some common discount providers include The Entertainment Book, cashrewards.com.au, NRMA etc. Woolworths then sell VisaOne prepaid gift cards, but they include an activation fee. If these prepaid Visa gift cards are purchased using the 5% discounted Wish Gift cards you can reduce the fee to 65c per $100. As the gift card is a Visa card you can use it anywhere (almost) that accepts Visa cards.

If you are contemplating a new AMEX card, I'd highly recommend heading over to the Referrals sub-forum of AFF where you can find AMEX referral links from other AFF members. These generally give you a better signon bonus point offer than is available directly from AMEX. The current offer for the Edge card in question is 15k points (converting 1:1 to Velocity) and no annual fee for the first year.

Hope this helps and good luck in your points quest!

Edit: There's a thread about getting discounted gift cards at woolies here: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ewards/woolworths-gift-card-thread-81106.html. Special offers on the Prepaid Visa cards appear at intervals and are highly talked about in this thread.
