Can I visit Qantas Domestic lounge instead of International lounge?

Happy Friday!

I'm flying Qantas Business from Melbourne to New Zealand tomorrow. Two questions for the brains trust:
1. There are FF articles around saying the Melbourne International lounge/dungeon will be refurbished in 2024. Did this happen?
2. With a business ticket, can I visit the Domestic lounge instead? (mainly for a decent coffee:))

Cheers, Steven.

Was in the MEL Int J lounge yesterday. Definitely not refurbished.

There are quite a few articles swallowing Qantas press releases about the lounge being scheduled for refurbishment in 2024. But I couldn’t find any about it actually being undertaken. Thanks for confirming.

I was in MEL Int lounge in Sept 2024. A person with a large tablet and 2 other people were wandering around. The gentleman with the tablet was waving his arms about and saying new bar here, new corridor here, new rest rooms here...."

Got a link to those press releases?

The coffee in the MEL domestic J lounge is not something I'd classify as good but a long shot. Certainty not worth the hassle of schlepping to and having to go through security just to get a pretty average coffee.

If it were me, I'd just spent $5 at a different coffee place in the international departures area if the lounge coffee isn't too your liking.

Also depending on the departure time, EK lounge may or may not be open. If it is, its definitely better.

Does the Melbourne J international lounge have a a barista in the morning or just a self serve push button machine? I need one more acceptable coffee before going hiking in NZ!

Not sure why they need to refurbish the lounge. Just upgrade the catering, that’s my main complaint . From lunch onwards the only hot food when I’ve been there could be best described as slop. (Although breakfast is OK).

Consistent at least with the slop they serve inflight.
The way QF still treats its customers these days, they probably changed the brand of toilet paper in the Lounge and called it a Refurbishment ;)😆
I think you mean "enhance" ;)
