Does anyone know if it's possible to change the date at which status reassessment occurs? I've just qualified for Gold, and have until the end of September to get Platinum, which won't happen, but I will probably accrue around 300 to 400 SCs in that time, which would be better used if I could reset my SCs to zero now and start re-qualifying.

Anyone know if it's possible?

It's not likely, but you could ask. After all, you're not asking for an extension of privileges, quite the opposite.

You might need to think of a better reason, something to do with work travel plans and big breaks about now. ;)

I would doubt they would reset your year, a status run maybe a consideration if you are going to get halfway to Plat, the NAN run would probably get you across the line or very close with its 360 SCs then you get a year of Plat with a fallback to SG if you dont make the requal level which is 200 SC less than the qual level.

Thanks for the fast replies. I've seen lots of mention of the NAN run, but haven't found the details of what is involved. Can you point me in the right direction?

The NAN run takes advantage of the $649 J fare ex BNE to NAN which is made up of BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE, its the long way round but does get you 360 SCs for $1294.95, if you wish to not stay in NAN its possible to sacrifice 20 SCs and do one lone run by going BNE-MEL-NAN then catching the NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE leg 3 hours after you arrive.

Another option if you have a few points is to do the HBA express run using a J ASA, such as this one:

The other possibility is to look at your upcoming flights and reroute to maximise SC's, for instance I go to DRW via CNS rather than direct for the same cost, or SYD/BNE to ADL via Melbourne or CBR. A recent trip I had was CNS-BNE via SYD, got some odd looks at baggage check in but it was the same cost as direct and the schedule actually suited me better.

If you have some plans feel free to post them here and you will get a response on the best way to maximise the SC returns.
