A few years ago, you used to be able to get the Qantas Club to post mail for you. They'd even provide the stamp!

That was stopped due to "security concerns" (cough, abuse and money reasons, I presume).

Can't find the email now though which advised of the change...

However, what I'm wondering is slightly different, but could have been stopped for the same reasons.

If I have an envelope containing documents or similar that I need to give an associate who is arriving at an airport later, will the Qantas Club hold it for me for collection by them?

Anyone tried this? Or will I get the "security concerns" spiel?

I would suggest that you'll get the spiel.

Unless, like platy you have a good relationship with them local QP staff, I can't see this happening.

Depending on how quickly you need to find out, you could always call the QP direct and ask; may be your best option.

I managed to do it at HKG for a colleague who was departing 16 hours later, but different security regulations overseas obviously.

Not sure about the QP but i have managed an envelope to be left and collected at the QF ticket desk at the airport.

Nah it's not urgent... just have the possibility of needing to do it soon :)

Another option I thought of was using "Lost and Found" at the airport as a dropbox system, or hiding the stuff under a printer in the QP - but that's pushing it a little :D

Using the lost and found... now that's what I like to call thinking outside the square!! :D

I actually started typing a response to suggest that one, but didn't post it as I thought it may not be overly appropriate to promote it as a solution. But since its come up ;) it certainly may be viable.

Do you trust "lost & found"? It is not unheard off for things to go mssing within "lost & found"!!

Question is do l&f charge a fee for retrieval of items from storage?
no. Just need to be able to describe the item that was "lost".

I once left a leather jacket at the security screening point. Didn't realise until I was on the plane for a day trip to somewhere south (prob SYD). So went back to the security checkpoint when I returned later that evening and they pulled out a clipboard with all the "lost" items, found my jacket in the list (based on the time I said I went outbound) and their records showed it had been taken to Lost and Found. I wondered over, described the item, time and location lost, and they handed me my jacket.

Now, just where did I drop that envelope with my name on the front?

I left an iPod on the plane once, due to a few too many wines  took moving hell and earth to get it back, I even described the exact songs that were on it AND a very prominent scratch on the back and they still didn't believe me!!
