Can you purchase upgrade on UA with VA economy award?

I'm VA Platinum and wife is VA Gold. If we make an economy award booking, can we purchase upgrades to Economy Plus or Premium Plus? Looking at MEL-SFO and ABQ-DEN-LHR routing. Thanks

I'm quite sure I recall being able to select seats and pay the difference on the UA website.

On UA? You’ll be able to buy up to E+ (which is seat selection) but not Premium Plus (which is a different class).

(EDIT - they may offer a paid upgrade at check-in if you have a Mileage Plus number attached to the booking it seems.)
