If I've bought an economy ticket on an internationally operated domestic leg on a JQ A330, is there an upgrade with points option via Qantas Frequent Flyer?

No, this is not possible. Wait for a call from JQ if it is a light load for a cheap upgrade price. Alternatively, give them a call on 131 538 for your options.

Not that I know of - if its a JQ issued and paid for ticket, you may be able to add a bundle to your existing JQ booking to get up to Starclass (I still refuse to call it 'Business Class') but you will find that the extra change and rebooking fees from JQ and the cost of the bundle itself will usually make it more expensive than some proper business class products/airfares out there so its usually futile. Will depend on the T&Cs of your original JQ booking.

Thanks for the info!

Yes - just keep an eye out on the upgrade price so in the unlikely event that they do call/email you closer to flying then you have some idea of what is reasonable and what is unreasonable, and watch out for the upgrade to business offered and then JQ only crediting the SC's from the original booking (if you are looking to acumulate SC....), I have seen a few people burned on that one as well.

Did you book it via the QF or JQ website?

AFAIK JQ only call or email you with upgrade offers if you book directly with JQ.

It seems that the answers refer to upgrading for cash not points which was your original question. Looks like maybe you can't use points? Someone will give a definitive answer.
