Yep, it is incredibly popular. Not going this year. I suppose the tickets were to try to have some control over numbers.

I must try and remember this for next year to see if it's possible.

I went 2 years ago with the little uns and it was like the G on grand final day. Vowed to never go back but may consider it again next year given the ticket system that they've just introduced.

I remember going to the open day in about 1985. My memories are mainly of having to drive back and spend about an hour in the rain looking for my four year old daughters stuffed monkey, which she had lost from her pusher and was crying desperately about. We never found it and within two days she had forgotten all about it.

Oh OZDUCK - those 2 days must have been hell though...;)

Ah the memories. We once left my son's teddy, Behru, at the Le Meridien KL. It cost me $90 to courier the little blighter back home which was 10 times more than what the stuffed marsupial cost me in the first place. Parents these days....

A few friends went and thought it was excellent.... it seems the ticket system may have kept things manageable??

With so few flights on, perhaps QF could sell tickets for a Syd / Mel open day at the airport. There will be lots of planes on the ground to look at, empty lounges to walk through and lots of underworked staff as tour guides. They could custom the tours for CL ( Lansen on the bus tour and a quick lunch in the CL lounge), WP, (sparkling wine on the bus and lunch in the F lounge), gold ( orange juice on the bus, and club sandwiches) , Sliver ( water on the bus with potato crisps) and bronze ( push the bus and make the lunches)
