Cancel AMEX Platinum Credit- Fee Free 1 year

I called AMEX to cancel my platinum credit card during the week and they gave me 12 months fee free. So whilst I continue to use my Earth Platinum for everything (with direct earn and 3 pts per dollar for the rest of the month), I use the free flight from AMEX and await another promotion like Everyday rewards again. I fear I will be waiting a long time. . .
