Hi, i booked a multi city award booking syd/hkg, hkg/tpe, tpe/hkg, hkg/syd.

i Have flown the first 2 legs and wanted to change/cancel the 2 last legs but they advise me ill lose the points but not the taxes. does this seem correct? I thought having done a multi city it eliminated it being all one booking(even though i do have single booking reference for all flights)

thanks

I believe the fare rules for Classic Rewards only allow for refunds prior to the commencement of travel

See 14.9
Classic Flight Reward tickets issued for travel on Qantas, oneworld Member Airlines or Airline Partners (including Jetstar Airlines) may be submitted for refund and re-credit prior to commencement of travel. Where applicable, only Qantas Points that would not have expired will be re-credited. A Cancellation Refund Fee (see the Fee Schedule) will apply.
Once any travel has commenced on a Classic Flight Reward, the Reward is considered used, even if the remaining travel is not completed. Qantas Points will not be re-credited to the Member's account for unused ticket coupons.

With that said, you are able to change the date & flight number of the last two sectors. However, you will not be able to change routing or class of travel.
14.7.6 Subject to this clause 14.7, the following changes are permitted to a Classic Flight Reward flight before departure of that flight, provided the booking contains one or more Flight Segments that are not within Australia, and the Flight Segment(s) being changed do not include a partner airline that requires a ticket to be reissued for the change. Any such change will incur a Change Fee (see the Fee Schedule) per passenger:

(a) change to flight number; and
(b) change to date of travel.
However, I do not know what constitutes "a partner airline that requires a ticket to be reissued for the change". It's possible you may be SOL if (I assume CX) meets that condition.

Thanks for your detailed reply...i guess ive learnt i should separate tickets so as to have more flexibility in the future.

cheers

Do NOT try to change it even if the agent says you can.

Qantas will fail to ticket and you will have a huge headache.
haha yes i learnt that...exactly as you predicted, however managed to get home as scheduled. the new flight they booked me suddenly just disappeared but then was able to get assistance through messenger, even though longer than a call, it got resolved by them crediting me the points and then i just rebooked myself.
