One of my upcoming fares in business was made without the NPX code so I decided I'd be a smarty and cancel the original booking (checked first to ensure there were some seats left) and re-book it with the disc. code.

All good as far as the cancellation went with all the fare being deposited into the travel bank. Went to make the new booking and got right through it only to find during the "make payment" stage, the booking was rejected as being a duplicate. I waited and tried again...same result. I rang the GCC and the code would not work for them (no disc loaded which was about $50). I tried with a CC payment rather than travel bank and it wouldn't do it.

In the end, I made the booking whilst not logged in, which meant I couldn't use the travel bank funds and had to use a CC (with fee) but it did accept the booking (phew). Then I logged into that booking number and added my VFF number. Now it's happily restored (same plane, same seat) but $52 cheaper. It's like pulling teeth some times!

I think the mistake is trying to pay with the travel bank holding the funds from the cancelled booking. Pretty sure Qantas have a restriction on cancelled booking voucher being used to book on the same day. Can't see any reason VA wouldn't be the same.

I've been able to cancel my booking, credit went to Travel Bank and then I was able to book using that credit just a few minutes later.... (did this for the 3X points on flights offer recently)

Same flight, same day?

Yes, same flight, same day

Interesting. Thanks for the comment as I was thinking along medheads lines. In the end I did three things to secure the booking....paid by CC not TB, logged out of Velocity and used a different email address than the one listed. I can't say which of the three ploys worked but it did work which is all that matters. The TB funds were used quickly enough on other fares on different days so no great problem.
