Hi everyone,
One of the guys who works for me has a daughter who was due to return home to Sydney from Chicago via LAX yesterday flying United. No problems with the Chicago-LAX flight but the LAX-SYD flight was cancelled due to a mechanical problem (apparently an aerial on the plane was broken). She has been rebooked onto another flight hopefully leaving in a few hours time but there has been a delay of over 24 hours caused by this incident
The airline apparently offered nothing to any of the passengers, the majority staying at the airport including my friends daughter having to look after themsleves. There was no offer of accommodation or meals and I'm just wandering what you think they should have been given and from there what compensation you would now think they are entitled to.
I would have thought there were fairly standard processes in place for airlines especially when it appears to be a problem that they are wholly responsaible for
Regards,
Nick
