Cancelling partner carrier award booking rules?

Hello folks. I have a award seats to HKG on CX shortly, I'm concerned about the recent bulk cancellations there. Anyone know the rules/penalties for cancelling award bookings, in terms of cost in points and dollars (taxes etc), and what the window of opportunity to cancel might be? Many thanks.

Taxes will be refunded and there’s a 6000 points penalty.
