I have been trying to book CX/MH flights using classic awards but always get the message "We're having trouble finding flight options that match your search." I tried different routes and different dates and got the same message. I can see the availability when using CX to book though. Is anyone else having the same problem?

yep not a lot of availability via QF....
when are you booking for?
There should be at least something. I searched all the way to Aug 2023 for HKG-KUL, KUL-SGN, HKG-HAN, etc. and got the same message "We're having trouble finding flight options that match your search." All of the above are available on CX site for CX, MH flights. I am QF WP and CX green so it should happen.

Why?. QF has no say in the number of redemption seats that partner airline may wish to place within QF marketing.
So CX will get more MH award seats than QF? When a MH award seat is available to CX frequent flyer members at a particular moment in time, it may not be available to QFF at that same moment in time?

So CX will get more
Sure, i appreciate the disparity but again QF has no say in what CX wants to release to it. Against that who knows what QF/CX wants in return for those seats - Each might want more of the pie than what the other is prepared to pay. There might also be bilateral partnership rules which preclude certain routes from appearing in the other's marketing

MH, CX and QF are not controlled by each other. So i can't see how CX is required to make its redemption seats available to any one airline in particular.

I think you missed my point. I think there is a problem with booking non QF award flights on the QF website. Can you find any CX/MH award flight availability for any route now?

Are you using the multi city search function and selecting flexible dates? We've managed to book MH, KLM and BA flights recently.

No. I am trying to book a simple One-Way trip only from HKG and KUL.

Also see here:

but people have been booking QR seats

I can see reward seats for LHR-HEL on AY in Feb

Yes I can see them as well. Just can't find anything from HKG or KUL.

Here is an example

In the end its up to the respective airlines to release the seats to the partner airlines.
There is also a problem discussed in the link I provided above where Qf are not ticketing the partner airline reward seats in time

Not all OW carriers release seats to each other on a consistent basis.

Have you tried the multi city booking engine and make sure you select the flexible date option. I normally select a couple of days in advance of my prefered travel dates as the calendar view will display what is available and you can work it out from there. If just looking point to point and IME the QF booking engine only returns married flight options but maybe wrong.

QF WP is of no benefit when booking rewards OW/ partner rewards. A random search on dates would suggest flights are available.Screen Shot 2022-12-30 at 5.35.40 pm.png

FWIW: I did some search yesterday for tomorrow (31 Dec) and could find heaps of CX redemption in Y & J (!!!) on HKG - Hanoi/Kuala Lumpur/HCMC/Denpasar.

The usual EK hop HKG - BKK in Y also showed up but no CX.

Sometimes even a simple itinerary throws up more options using multi stops. It's a Qantas thang.

I'm wary now of routing through HK if this Covid testing thing comes into play.

Using the Multi stops search helps. It's showing options now available for the single One Way/Return flight search. Thanks!

My next door neighbour booked CX and MH flights this afternoon for Oct 2023 on OWA through QF site.
