As per my other thread I'm now booked in J to the UK in a month's time on QF9 (A380). I'm travelling with a Platinum QFF. We've been allocated 25K and J down the back of the cabin.

I called the QFF line to see if we could be pushed forward (say row 17 or 18, really anything forward of the engines to minimise noise) but the gentleman said there was nothing available (window + aisle). I find that hard to believe, 1 month out for a platinum FF?

Are they right, or am I talking to the wrong person? Should I just keep plugging away with online seat selection till they open up? For some reason I can't seat select through the Platinum flyer's booking (glitch?) only through mine (Silver).

If you are able to post additional details (specifically the date), someone may be able to look at the seat map on Expert Flyer :)

Here is the Seat Map from Expert Flyer for QF9 (MEL-LHR) on 19th July for the Business Cabin. Good Luck :)

And here is the one from Amadeus

Thanks for that guys, can someone explain what it all means? Looks like the Amadeus one reflects what the QFF staff was telling me, whereas the Expertflyer one shows room further forward? Why the disparity?

Sorry Samiam - I typo'd that, the date should be 19th June.

Ozmille - that image appears to support the QFF rep's comments, that no window/aisle combo's further forward. Is this an accurate reflection of the way the cabin has been allocated?

The Amadeus one is what QF will see as they use Amadeus. I don't know which system is behind Expertflyer. Only other option I see is 18EF.

Okay - I've reposted EF Seat Map from the corrected date (which makes more sense of the stated situation):

You are not entirely spoilt for choice with seating in this cabin.

This post may also be useful, which I am assuming refers to QF9, as was via SIN:

Last year on our Flight Melbourne to Singapore my husband and I were allocated 25J &K
Originally allocated 18A & B on 747 and thinking I didn't want to sit near toilets etc elected to change to downstairs 25J & K. Prior to our flight 747 was changed to A380
and were given the same seat numbers. Last row in Business Class but we found them fabulous. No noise from premium economy cabin and we actually received quite a bit of extra attention from the purser. Our flight lacked for nothing, probably one of the best flights we have ever had and the point where Qantas became my preferred airline.

Naturally, YMMV :)

I wouldn't worry about engine noise too much either. The A380 is the quietest aircraft I've been on - even downstairs near the engines. Upstairs it's pretty quiet along the whole cabin.
