I am on my way to book next years flights to LA, flying out of Perth with SQ.

I do have a couple of alternatives and I cant make up my mind so I am asking for your input.

1. Fly either J or any flight to SIN, have a couple of days stopover, then fly F/Suites SIN-LAX (cost of PER-SIN flight+107500 points savers+taxes)

2. Fly J PER-LAX without stopover (95000 points savers+taxes)

3. Fly to SYD, then do F/Suites SYD-LAX (140000 points+taxes... bit short on points for this one though, missing about 55000 points)

If I use points+pay, does anyone know how much SQ charge per point?

What do you say? You are much more travelled in booking with points and flying other other then Y :D To me, flying J would still be an amazing upgrade, but that suite on the A380 is really tempting. But I could get an extra flight in J for the price of the upgrade to F. Many thoughts at the moment and I am just so lost.

2 - mixed class Saver J PER-SIN / R or F SIN-LAX - can still add SIN stopover at USD100 - you will need to pay F rates all the way but still best way to go. A no brainer really IMHO - you will need to call KF in SIN to put it together but certainly what I would do.

Just one note come October, no more suites to LAX as A380 is being replaced by 77W + extra 77W service via ICN. Normal F available still, only suites to US will be to JFK via FRA.

Yes, that was what I was looking at as well as when I look at the flights and the airplanes they dont have the A380 anywhere.

But I was thinking of booking the flights there in J all the way, then fly out of NY and back home... routing through FRA all of a sudden seems like a great plan :D

Thank you all for your input, it makes a world of difference :)

Knowing somebody that flew NYC-FRA-SIN I think you are doing the right thing by looking at that option.
Hope it all comes together for you.

It already is, thanks to all the wonderful members of AFF. It is actually coming together way better than I thought and way quicker. I never thought I would be able to collect points so quickly to achieve long haul travel in J, let alone F.

I have been looking at the redemption charts for VA as well and if I am reading this correctly I would probably be better off transferring the points to SQ even if there is a devaluation of the points. At least for JFK-FRA-PER as compared to Etihad JFK-AUH-PER.

I would like to thank the AFF community for the input :D I have now successfully booked my first rewards seats flying PER-LAX via ICN in J. This is a big step up for me as I have merely flown Y, except for a complimentary upgrade I got once :)

Now I just have to make up my mind on seat selection. Is there any that are more attractive then others? I am flying with my husband so I guess they would be middle seats. The one from Perth is not a big deal as its merely 5 hours but the second leg I would like to have my pick. Its the SQ8 on a Boeing 777-300ER. Rows starts at 11 and goes to 23 with a galley between 14 and 15. Any special I need to avoid?
