I've booked my first ever JASA from Sydney to Canberra return. This will get me over the line for SG with only a few days to spare.

I'm flying down J, back Y, paid entirely in points.

I've gone in to the seat selection screen and it's showing the first three rows as greyed out. It's letting me pick from rows 4 or 5 and there are no other rows available. Is there a different config for the SYD-CBR 737s? (Yes, it is a 737, not a Dash 8)

Has anyone seen this before? What does it mean?

734s have 5 rows of J and are often used SYD- CBR for this reason.

Sounds like a 737-400 then.
As for seating being greyed out, could be due to alot of CL's, and WP's on that flight?

Assuming it’s not for a while you’ve probably been blocked by the T-80 limit. So 80 hours before departure log back on and you should be able to move forward. If you can snag 1D/F then I’d fully recommend them thanks to the foot cutout :)

First 3 rows of CBR J are greyed out for CL I think, so that the exalted pollies don't have to mingle with the hoi-polloi.

Flight is tomorrow afternoon, so it's definitely not the T-80 thing.

And I avoid flying J on the 747-400s generally, so I think the 5 rows of J is the most likely explanation. Thanks a lot guys!

J on a 747-400 trumps J on a 737-400 any day of the week:cool:

D'OH!

You know what I meant!

Actually, I'm J on the 747 SYD-PER in two weeks. First time in 747 J. Important question - Upper deck or in the nose?

Yes, that's it :!:

Sorry it was too good to pass up.

Personally I like upper deck to normal J but the nose is better again (IMHO)

I fly J between Cbr and Syd quite often and even as gold it is all but impossible to get anything other than the last couple of rows. Huge no of Public servants with WP status, so they pretty much take up the first 3 rows. Sometimes you can snag something further forward at OLC, or for an evening flight but not too often in the afternoon.

Indeed - I had a very upset Cabinet Minister sitting next to me in 1A on a MEL-CBR flight late last year - the aide writing his speech for a function that evening must have been hoping to sit in 1B to talk him through the speech but somehow ended up a row back instead.

As WP I can usually select up to row 2 at time of booking and row 1 at online checkin.
