Can't upgrade or waitlist MEL-LST-MEL flights

Hi everyone,

I just booked PER-MEL-LST and return in flexible economy.

When going to upgrade flights, the PER-MEL-PER segments display fine (upgrade available or waitlist). However the MEL-LST-MEL segments say 'upgrades cannot be requested for this flight'.

Does anyone know why this is? Glitch? Because LST can't support upgrades? Both flights are an 737's, one has Business reward availability showing.

It's a bit of a mess. VA stopped selling J on lots of regional / leisure routes a while ago - so if you were quick on the seat selection you got a J seat for free! Then there was an announcement that VA would be reintroducing J on these flights. Perhaps their website hasn't caught up? Or perhaps they changed their minds?

Mel - LST was definitely a route they cancelled J class on back when the original consolidation took place.

Sorry don't have a clear answer I'm sure someone more closely following VAs see-sawing approach to business will be able to help!

Thanks for your input, I think that's exactly what's happened. Called them up and was placed on the waitlist for MEL-LST

Mel - LST was definitely a route they cancelled J class on back when the original consolidation took place.

Was on MEL - LST and it did have J operating on the flight I was on.

Originally J section was operating as Y. But was converted back to J.

Did MEL-LST-MEL today. Definitely selling J, but with 1 seat from 16 actually filled will be interesting how long this continues.
