Heading to Hawaii in Sep 2019. Looking to hire a car for (prob 1 day). Never hired overseas so any suggestions much appreciated. Can earn some points through Qantas business rewards but nit sure if that's the right way to go with Avis.

We use whoever is cheapest, usually Hertz. Use kayak or Expedia to check prices across companies.

We used to get a rental, but last August got a day pass and rode 'The Bus' all over Oahu; got off to look around several times and it was very enjoyable. Naturally, a lot slower but you get to see the same things etc and for US$5.50 a lot cheaper. The 55 even goes though Turtle Bay Resort on the top of the Island though Haleiwa etc. Just something to think about if your not in a hurry. TheBus

Hiring a car in Hawaii is about as easy as it gets. You can do it when you arrive or before you leave. Plenty of providers. Many hotels can organise it all for you, including dropping you at the collection/drop off point.
