Car Hire USA with Frequent Flyer points

I realise my points are not best spent on car hire but would like to hear from anyone who used their flyer points for car hire USA.

What points did you require?

Which companies did you use?

We require a car for about a month to hire. 2 weeks on the west Coast then fly to NYC and hire a car for 2 weeks on the East Coast
