On our trip to KL earlier this month my wife lost her prescription sunglasses - probably left in a taxi. After a reminder by the optician, when she ordered another pair, we lodged a claim on our "Complimentary" CC insurance.

There was a bit of rigmarole in lodging the claim - but not an unreasonable amount. Allianz were excellent in acknowledging receipt of the claim, in their procedure for asking for more information and advising of the progress of the claim.

It has now been approved, in the time period outlined on their website, and is awaiting a final checkoff before payment.

The amount payable is only $350 but better than the proverbial "sharp stick". But all-round, I found their staff easy to deal with and they certainly made an effort to keep me up to date - by both phone, e-mail and snail mail. To be honest, even if they had knocked the claim back I would have felt that that their processes were pretty good.

Obviously this was only a small claim, but it was my first one using CC Travel Insurance and it has made me happier to rely on it.
