Carry on and QF lounge access SYDNEY?

So wanting to fly out of Melbourne and Sydney with carry on bag... return flight.... not booked yet.
In it toothbrush, tooth paste, electric shaver and deodorant roll on are items of issue?
Now the QF lounge in Melbourne is in domestic side of airport..... so should be fine?

Looking at map the QF lounge in Sydney is International terminal.... meaning security won't let me carry normal sized items thru via security check?

It's still not clear where you're flying.

But if you are departing from Sydney International Terminal (even if flying on a domestic flight), your carry-on luggage will need to comply with the following restrictions: What can you bring on a plane?

What? No. It depends on the flight number. There are Qantas lounges in T1 (international) and T3 domestic. Jetstar use T2 for domestic flights, and there is no qantas lounge there. To answer your question we need to know the flight number, and/or the terminal.

I'm going to stupidly guess, but Qantas all the flights with a flight number higher than 400 are domestic flights. Jetstar is similar but I'm not sure if their cut off is 400, or something different.

Also there are very few or perhaps no domestic/international flights. Maybe one or two jetstar options.

Jetstar is slightly more confusing. Flights JQ1-70 are numbers used domestically that operate from international terminals.

All other flights operate from domestic unless it's truly an international flight (eg JQ201 SYD-AKL is an international flight based on it's origin/destination not flight number).

There are 2 Domestic Terminals at SYD
T3 which is QF/ QFLink flights and has QF Club, Business and CL.
T2 which has JQ, VA, ZL which does not have a QF Lounge.
You can walk between the terminals underground.

It’s very, very rare that you get a flight between Sydney & Melbourne that leaves from the international terminal. Extremely rare. Well at least before the start of 2020 … it’s possible that it’s become a little bit more common with Up In The Air things being a bit more up in the air?

However, the international lounges are a little nicer than the domestic equivalents, if you have a choice. Since the content of your carry-on isn’t a problem. Or … well, they were before the start of 2020 …

I can’t recall looking for lounge information on an airport website. I just go to the carrier’s site. The QF site has plenty of information about the lounges.

While this isn't terribly helpful for travellers, that might be because T3 is owned and operated by Qantas, whereas T1 and T2 are operated by Sydney Airport. So technically they have nothing to do with anything inside T3 (I think they still manage things like the approach roads, taxis, and other outdoor stuff).
