Was on QF872 from CBR to SYD and I noticed that anyone that actually boarded with more than the 2 pcs allowed had one of the crew come up to them and explain the allowance.

As I listened in, the crew member made specific mention to "this type of aircraft" and how overhead space was limited. The pax was then advised that next time could they please ensure they only bring on 2 pcs. It was all explained professionally yet firm.

The pax that I was listening in to had brought on a very large (and appeared heavy) metal suite case roller type, suite bag and a laptop bag.

The pax proceeded to say that in over a hundred flights he had never been told this bla bla bla. The crew member was very polite but firm in re-stating the baggage policy and again noted the B737 limitations.

As a side note, the pax also put his luggage in the bin one section before his seat/row. This personally sh!ts me as well.

Was good to see.

Clearly the guy you mention was pushing the limits, having his 2 pieces of the allowed size and a laptop. But I do get a bit annoyed by the 2 piece limit, in general. I can fit my usual stuff within the 2x105cm, 14kg limit. But for a couple of reasons it would actually be better to have 3 pieces, not least because 3 smaller pieces allows more efficient use of the overhead space. I can fit my preferred 3 items into less space than 2x105cm bags.

Of course, I understand why this isn't allowed, because people would then start pushing the boundaries and would end up with 3x105cm bags
