On the evening of Friday 9 June, with much rain in SYD, CX139 from HKG to SYD encountered three holding patterns but appears to have diverted to MEL with arrival suggested as at about 2145.  This flight should arrive in SYD at 2010 so it looks like hotel accommodation may be the go in both Sydney and Melbourne tonight depending on which batch of passengers.  Not helpful to CX's bottom line!  Aircraft is B773ER B-KPY.

UPDATE: Melbourne Airport's site suggests that CX139 will be departing from MEL to SYD at 1200 'high noon' on Saturday 10 June, presumably to allow a sufficient rest period for the crew.  This has not yet been updated on the Cathay Pacific website with it claiming that departure from MEL will be tonight at 2200 hours for a post-curfew arrival in SYD.
