Cathay Pacific [in PE to Europe via HKG]

Hi Aff. Have booked premium economy seats today with Cathay Pacific never used them before. Flying in April next year from Melbourne to Milan stopping in Hong Kong and flying out of Rome to Melbourne again stopping in Hong Kong. Does Hong Kong airport have lounges and if so which airline partnerships do you need to use the Lounge...any issues with Cathay Pacific....hopefully we have not done the wrong thing...advice appreciated...

Yes HKG has multiple lounges. Of the oneworld airlines CX has a few and QF run one as well. For access you will need to be OWS or higher (ie QF Gold or equivalent).

Cathay Pacific are a good airline. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Unfortunately premium economy doesn't automatically come with lounge access though. As TomVexille said, you'll need to have status with a oneworld airline to access the Cathay Pacific lounge.

If you can get access to the QF lounge in my view it is superior to the CX offerings. We were there in July. Also PE is sweet considering you are not paying B/C fares!!!!

Book bulkhead seats if you can. Do this asap though the manage booking function on the CX website.

The bulkeads (especially the window sides) have lots of legroom, and after take-off you can but a normal zied roller bag on the floor in front of you and create a fully horizontal leg-rest. This will help you to relax/sleep.

Non-bulkhead rows are best avoided: seat recline is generous, and if someone reclines in to you it can be difficult to get out of your seat to reach the aisle.

I and wife flew CX PE, this month and will fly this Tuesday. It is OK but do get the bulk head seat, but be aware that if you recline, and It is supper time you will be asked to return your seat up right. Service is good but not J. Also toilet is in economy, which means expect delays. Some passengers used j toilets, but told to use economy, they were not happy as queue was long. All in all it is OK but it depends on the price you pay, it is defenitly not worth north than $3500, any more than that get a cheap j class seat.
PS we paid $2826 so it was worth it to get to Manchester

My experiences with CX Y+ would be that it's economy service in a bigger seat.

In two minds about using it to get to Toronto next year.

I think CX PE is a good compromise between economy (cheap) and business (pricey)

I recently travelled on a CX 777 in PE, and previously on a CX A330 in PE. 100% agree with the bulkhead seats...whilst no take off/landing floor storage....the leg room is excellent and these are the choice seats! If I cant get bulkhead, I always try last row....no arguments about seat reclining then. On the 777 the recline was normal in the last row.

After the CX 777 I connected on a Q747 in PE, and whilst normally I prefer QF PE, the CX seat seemed to have more comfortable padding this time. The CX seats have the entertainment in the seatback on all but the bulkhead, and whilst less responsive to touch, compared with the in-arm type for QF it was preferable as you really have to cough your head to an angle to view straight on with the QF layout. It became a bit tiresome after 4-5hours looking slightly left. The in-seat storage and power was also better on CX, with a USB point in the seatback and also a little nook to hold the device whilst charging. The seat pocket is also a bit more accommodating in CX. (Has Marc Newsome ever travelled in his QF PE seat and tried to figure out where to put the water bottle??)

Just booked a reward flt PE on CX 101 on a 777 via QF points. CX 'manage the booking' is not letting me choose a seat. We have been given 32G. I'm having trouble find a seat map.

That lists the three variants of the CX 777 - you want the 77G - the only one that is three class.
