From ‍30‍ ‍March‍ 2021‍, after signing into your account on the Cathay Pacific website, you can pay for your entire ticket with miles or a mix of miles and cash – it’s up to you.

Got the email too. Not sure I like where this is heading, although at least they're keeping Standard Awards.

Basically, they seem to be replacing Choice and Tailored Awards with a system similar to Qantas' "Points Plus Pay", where miles can be converted to cash at a mediocre rate to purchase an available revenue ticket. I can't see myself ever using this feature - even if you can earn miles for the ticket.
