CBR drinks/meal Friday 16 July

Well there are a few of us here in the nation's capital city where politics rules supreme. It is freezing cold so some warm conversation will be good for us all.

So we may as well meet up have a drink or two and a meal if you so desire.

Put your name down and we'll organise a location, catch up, spin some stories and see who gets the FF points on their CC.

Every now and then on a Friday I'm in Canberra, but not this one unfortunately.

Oddly enough, I usually have a curry upstairs at that time of week. Late night shopping means the Canberra Centre stays open past the evening rush, and I can always find a taxi rank to park on.

In other words, I'll turn up, work permitting. I'll be the guy in the taxi uniform.

I would love to attend and meet the locals but I have been through CBR every day for the past 12 and need to stick with the family on Friday night...however, I will be flying out again on Sat PM so if anyone wants to meet up for a coffee at the Club please let me know...

Well Skyring, PeteJ and myself had a lovely get together this evening. I wore the AFF tag so people could have a focal point and Skyring saw it and introduced himself.

The Baber cafe had nice food and we enjoyed a coffee/hot chocolate. PeteJ and myself had dinner and then Skyring had to go back to work.

PeteJ and I eventually left about 11.00pm after a fun filled evening of points, op ups and trips past and future.

We hope to do it again soon and look forward to other Canberrans coming along.

Eleven o'clock!

When I left about seven thirty, the food bill was just being presented. Obviously I shoulda staid on. Then again, the taxi service in Canberra would have suffered.

Had a delightful time. It's good to spend time with others who "get it". My wife thinks it's just transport. A flying bus.

Must attend more of these meetings...

My other hobby - BookCrossing - surfaced, and I promised to post details of the book I left in a lounge at KIX and was found by a fellow Canberran. Who wrote an article for the local paper.

I was astonished one Sunday morning to open the magazine section to see a photograph of my book, and a story about its travels.

It was great to catch up with Hvr and Skyring last night and FreqwentFlya this afternoon. The time passed very quickly.

It is fun and educational to meet other frequent-flyers. I hope we can get together on a regular basis, Canberrans and (when the stars align) non-Canberrans.
