I will be in CBR for a couple of days (<48hrs) this month, and was wondering if any hire car company is better than any other. I haven't rented a car for nearly 10 years, so I am not looking for any return business benefits. I will be flying, so pick up and drop off at the airport. Happy to credit to AA if that helps narrow the field.

CBR has all of the usual suspects for car hire. I'm not sure any are 'stand out' from the crowd.

If you have VA status you could get Europcar Elite which usually means an upgrade of 1-2 classes. I'm not sure it will register before your trip 'this month' depending on when that is.

No status with VA. 'Red' doesn't count, does it? :)

End of the month. Might just go with BFOD.

I've found the prices through the QF website generally aren't too bad and you get to see all the options at once.

Used hertz just last week for a corolla, no issues other than, this goes for all the companies, check the car carefully as you are in a dark multi story car park and easy to miss prior damage.

Thanks for the advices.

Look for the deals at the respective websites. Even published deals need to have the specific codes entered, or they'll simply charge you normal price. I think Avis/Budget would credit the most miles for AA, but it's not a program I'm familiar with. Europcar has a discount for Accor members, including the base level which is free to sign up to. And keep checking the rates - if it's not a prepaid booking, and you find a lower rate, simply cancel and rebook.
