Centurion - Marco Polo Diamond Renewal

Hey all,

Spoke with my Amex RM on Friday and I queried whether or not my Marco Polo Diamond would be renewed upon expiry in Feb. I was advised that renewal is subject to meeting the requirements of Cathay Pacific and the Diamond Membership was a one-off promotion.

I recall a few of you have mentioned that renewal has been granted. Have you had any substantial flights credited or did they do it automatically. Ive got a couple international flights coming up and wonderig whether to place them on Marco Polo on Qantas. However, if I don't place on qantas I won't reach my renewal threshold for 2013.

Would be great to hear what other members have experienced so far!

My Marco Polo Diamond was renewed for a second year and I didn't fly a sector on CX. Not one flight.

Great to know and if that the case I'll concentrate on QFF. I only recently learnt about the Citi Price Match Guarantee so I'll attempt to use to bolster my QFF SC's

I am in the same boat as Homer, mine was renewed, and happy they did as i will need to do a few trips to HK each year now so can either go QF or CX

They were renewed as the benefit was extended to the end of Feb 2013 to apply. Hopefully they will continue extending it every year.

Based on pshepvic comment above that renewal may be granted as Centurion members have until Feb 13 to apply (if I've understood correctly), has anyoe who's recently been renewed have an expiry date that's post Feb 13. Also, has anyone else's Amex RM given conflicting information to mine?

I was renewed in July. My "Valid Thru" date on the MCP Diamond card is June 2013.

Correct. The renewal seems to be for another twelve months for most people, which goes beyond the Feb date for applications. If they extend again next year, I reckon that's a good indication the benefit might be here to stay. After all the Q Club benefit also has a date by which to apply, but gets extended every year.

Bad news people. It appears two years (for the original benefactors) is all that we will get for CX Diamond. Below is what I found on the AmEx website today and I quote '3.Marco Polo Club enrolment is open to basic Centurion members only and is vaid for one year from enrollment after which point standard eligibility criteria applies.'

I found it in the T&C's of the benefit.

Ours got renewed for another year - which just happened to be a month before we cancelled our Cent *rubs hands*

Hopefully this term in the T&C's is just there to cover themselves in the event they suddenly decide to remove the benefit. I'm up for renewal in Feb... will post outcome of renewal at that time

That would be fabulous blessed - I am due for renewal in March and are going to need convincing to stay - I would assume quite a few other Cent holders might also be seriously weighing up perceived value.

Will definitely post outcome in Feb Cruiser Elite. I've got a trip to SCL in just over a week on QF metal... Looking forward to Sydney First Class Lounge! Had my renewal for Cent due in Dec, was 50/50, though renewed for another year.

Looks like Cathay might have reviewed their policy then. The major benefit of Diamond is that you don't have to wait to speak to someone at Cathay.

Any other Cent members have their MP Diamond renewed recently? I'm waiting in anticipation. Got just over a month until expiry. Flying international on QF metal in J tomorrow. Will make good use of the F lounge prior to departure !
