Hi all,

I was wondering what the chance was of QF opening a J classic award seat on QF 21 on the 11/02. Either for me (becoming platinum soon) or my dad (Platinum who gets air). I have the option of flying through HKG and then on CX however this takes much less time and it would net more sc's/points if booked as a JASA.

Expert flyer is showing this:

I would suggest at this late stage that ringing them and asking is probably the best option. IMHO it is unlikely that J seats would open up between now and 11 Feb.

This would indicate that the business loads are fairly light, as they are still selling I class (heavily discounted J) and all other J buckets are fully available, so you should call and make the request. I would be using the Dad card on this one...:p

If they do open U inventory, is it difficult to get a JASA?

I don't know but I would ask.
Good question, but highly unlikely. If they open U availability generally, then yes it will be easy to get a JASA, but if you're asking for inventory? Hmm, probably not.

I have booked a JASA but then had a seat availed on another flight and 'changed' the JASA. This could be one plan of attack - slightly risky but a JASA is fully refundable in most cases (watch out for JASA that books as 'Business Saver' conditions...)

IME if you request a seat to made available they will book it for you and charge the 2500 points for an assisted booking.

You do not get the option of booking it yourself so you would not be able to do it as a JASA.

I think your only hope is to make a JASA booking on another day and then phone up to see if they can move the flight for you, I have not done this but it may work and if it doesn't you can refund the JASA.

Good luck.

Good point.

I have asked and been granted a change to a flight that did not have any U availability. I'm not sure that this would be a regular occurrence though and believe I was lucky with this.
