Hi there all,

I am traveling back from SIN to ADL on Thursday 30th Oct on QF82 . My booking is currently in L class but I have gone online and requested a J upgrade for 24K points. I have checked the QF booking engine and it currently allows you to purchase 6 J tickets and only 5 Y class tickets.
The question for all the experts is what are my chances of getting the upgrade? I am a WP that does a lot of travel, all on QF or JQ. I understand it depends on who has requested etc, but does my WP status get me higher up the queue, I believe it does? But because I only requested it yesterday will that put me down the queue to say a Gold who requested 90 days ago? I so hope not... Very selfish right now..

Fingers crossed that I get it as not really looking forward to a night flight, packed in Y, then a segment to MEL, then a segment to LST. Oh well, I should have booked J they say, if only this project allowed me to.. Sigh!!!!!

Cheers,:D

A WP trumps an SG no matter when you put the request in. I would say your chances are pretty good, if the flight is that full in Y they may be happy to get additional Y seats to sell by bumping you up to J.

E/F shows:
  • J6 C6 D6 I0 B5 H5 K5 M5 L5 V2 S5 N1 Q1 O0 X0 E0
The J seatmap shows 7 unallocated seats (not that it means much, especially the day before the flight)

As a WP your chances are reasonable.

Note the has been some recent suggestion that fare class is now used as an inter status level determinant with a higher priority than time of request. If this is the case, then you would trump those WP's in V & S classes.

Thanks for the info. I will let you know if I was fortunate enough to get the upgrade. What is interesting is that check my trip is showing the seat map as all allocated in economy and 6 un-allocated in J, interesting? Fingers Crossed!

And now it is down to J1 - but Y9 - an indication that the upgrades will have been processed and just the 1 J seat left for any last minute purchases, and I would suggest 5 people upgraded, freeing up the various Y seats.

Checkmytrip should tell you if you are one of the lucky ones:D

And I was one of those who scored an upgrade. This will make my trip home so much better, it will be drinks in the F lounge followed by sleep on the flight.
Thank you Qantas

Tassie,

Congrats on the upgrade, always a pleasure when they come through. Enjoy the trip home.
