Just changed the date on an O class fare SYD-SIN. This was the return leg with the booking made in SGD.

Was quoted $143.10 which I assumed was SGD but received the receipt and found it was AUD!

Is this normal or have they used the wrong currency to charge for the change? There was no currency conversion mentioned either on the receipt.

Two things-

Check the fare conditions on your booking. It should say the change fee This is about $190. If it says $200 your got a very good rate. If it says $150 QF charged you a fee to change

My bank account always quotes this fee in the AUD as a Authorisation & then converts it on the settlement day with @ 2% fee

Lastly QF should not charge a fee if you cannot do the change on line which happens regularly

Frankly their financial module of the booking system has a lot of weaknesses from a user perspective. If the CFO is happy with it, he should be replaced. Form instance, a VA is not much better, but VA processes at ticket confirmation are a lot different.

Cheers Keith

Yeah I checked previously and it was around$140SGD I though but will take another look. This was a Sale fare so no changes online for some reason and the invoice is in AUD too so I'm not sure it will change when it hits my card - wouldn't mind if it did as I have a 28degrees Card with no forex fee

I changed an ex-SIN fare in May and paid around ~AUD140.

I believe the change fee is ~SGD75 (~AUD50) and the service fee is ~AUD80. The same fare class was available so paid no difference in airfare.

My issue with the change & booking system is that if the system does not have the chance xcld icon, QF should not charge the serve fee as you have no option. Mind you the Sale Fares loose their saving traction with changes

Cheers Keith

When changing ex SIN fares using the QF Australian call centre, in my experience, they will always convert the SGD75 change fee to AUD (at a poor exchange rate) and then charge you the AUD80 service fee even though you cannot change the booking online.

I believe if you want to pay in SGD, you have to ring the SIN call centre during SIN business hours.

I tend to agree although I know when I book ex-SIN that I cannot change online and will incur charges changing. In my experience even if I have changed the booking it still works out much cheaper than the same flights ex-Australia.

I believe all calls for reservations and changes to tickets now go to Australian call centre so no option to pay in SGD.

I think they do, but in my experience, they know the call has originated from the Singapore number, so treat it is a SG call with SG charges.
