QR is keeping up their anecdotal reputation for numerous changes of aircraft after booking. We have booked QR J Sin - Stockholm & Oslo - Sin, leaving in about 10 days, and today I received notice of a change of aircraft. It actually came in a very strange way as an e-mail from "Travel Document [email protected]" and was basically just our itinerary. It took me a minute or so to find a short sentence at the bottom saying that our seats had been changed.

Using "Manage your Booking" I found out some good news in that our, still very good, A350-900, had been replaced by an A350-900 with the J suites. The problem was that they had moved us from our selected window seats and put us together in the middle seats.

The horror of the possibility that we might have to sit together led my wife to demand that I immediately change the seats. Actually, part of her horror was also that this will be a late afternoon flight over Europe and she loves looking out the window - as long as the blind is not drawn.;) Anyway we now are back by the windows with me in a back facing seat.

This means that out of 8 flight sectors booked with QR we have had 2 with aircraft changes. At least this time we have not been put onto a LATAM 787 - first world problems I know.

I get that, MrsM and I ditched MissM and are travelling F RTW next year, when the topic of seat selection came up I thought I would be nice and at least ask “do you want to sit next to each other?” There was a blank look then the response what do you want to do that for.

It was the answer I was hoping for. :)

Anyone know if Qatar are fitting QSuites to 777 too?
Yes they are and have already done so. But I don't believe that they are all done and of course QR are notorious/famous for changes in the aircraft type on routes. (Here is a link to a review of the B777 QSuite as an example Qatar Airways QSuite B777-300 Review)

Edit: When you do a dummy booking it indicates whether the aircraft has QSuites - well it did a minute ago for me anyway.

Well, I started this thread on 30 July when QR changed our a/c from an A350 without suites to one with suites and also changed our seat selections.

Today, 6/8, QR, have changed the plane type again - back to an A350 without suites. They also proceeded to change our booked seats on 3 out of our 4 flights. On 2 of the flights they put us back together in the middle seats and on the other they left us on the window but put another passenger between us. All of our seat allocations are now back to the way we want but I wonder if they will hold? This means that on 8 booked sectors on QR we have now had 3 aircraft changes - a pretty good strike rate.

Anyway, it keeps you excited about the forthcoming trip and whichever seat we end up occupying will still be a good seat.

We have just checked in at Changi for our flight to Stockholm via Doha. At check in we found that they had changed our seats again and put us in the middle rows - facing backwards. We did get them changed back to the window rows. One forward & one back facing.

I wonder how many seat changes we will have before our return?

This is the first time we have been in the SATS Premier lounge in tT - QR shifted to T1 in October 2018. It is a more comfortable lounge than in T2. However the food offerings are still pretty basic - the highlight being Turkey Bacon.;)
