Not sure if this has been covered before but I could select row 3 as a gold on a BNK flight, on previous flights I could only select row 5 and beyond.

I hope it sticks. Is this OLCI? When is the flight?

Wasn't BNK one of the special ones because there's no J so platinum get the first two rows?

Golds could only get up to 5 in my previous experiences

No J seats available for sale at all Sydney to Ballina VA services (plus could possibly be a single class B737 with the old PE seats fitted operating this particular flight) so the lack of J class for sale may muck around with the seat allocation? Either way - get back to us and let us know if your 3E sticks, and which aircraft it is too!

I just had a look at the SYD-Ballina daily flights - which all seem to be scheduled B73H services every day, they sure do like flying empty J class seats around at VA don't they!

A colleague was recently able to choose row 3 at OLCI as a Silver on a route with business class. It was within T-24, not sure if that makes a difference as compared to T-48.

I didn't think VA had any of these configurations left in the fleet except for possibly using a short haul international configuration.

PS: Please correct me if I am wrong!

According to the VA web site seat maps there are still 10 of the old PE interior B738's without the new J class seats in the fleet (and 58 B738 with J class fitted, although I think I read somewhere they are mostly the Pacific Blue B738's) but the VA website and seatmaps may be out of date. The VA source lists 8 Pacific Blue B738's and 1x Virgin Samoa B738 and possibly 1x old B738 VA mainline that would be going out of lease soon anyway so I would bet that these are the ones with the old PE still on board. I still see them around Australia in service but very rare now.

Back on-topic, still doesn't explain why Jousams as a Velocity Gold is able to select Row 3 for a Sydney-Ballina flight, I guess we will wait and see what aircraft actually operates that flight and if the seat allocation actually "sticks" once they fly and if they report back.

I did notice that just before I became WP, with OLCI for my "WP earning" flight some more forward seats on the E90 had become available. (I did not follow though as I don't OLCI with VA).

I hope it sticks. Is this OLCI? When is the flight?
Yeah it's a flight tomorrow.
