I have a multi-stop booking on QF and I was trying to change one of the flights. Alas the 'Change Flights' button doesn't exist, so one must call and incur an extra $30 fee.

It appears the only thing you can do on-line with a multi-stop booking is cancel and start again. Sigh.

Is there another solution that I'm missing?

Nup, you have it correct.

Cancel, then use the credit to rebook.

Note you cannot use the credit for another Multi-stop online - it must be a one-way or return booking.

If you want another multi-stop using the credit you will need to call.

I just did this a day or two ago. There were some further limitations, not sure if reservations had it right so I rang back a couple times. If you've flown any segments you can't cancel online, must call. I was told credit must be used on equal or higher fare basis (at least was having difficulties using a credit for sale fares (O)) and any new fees & taxes don't count towards the fare being of equal or higher value :!:

Really not sure on the last one, but tried using a $270 credit less $50 change fee on a simple ADL-SYD R/T during the sale. Should of been about $8 difference but couldn't book at the sale fare online and over the phone it would have worked out only getting ~$100 worth from my credit  Was advised to just keep it and use towards an international sector at a later date...

Makes the refund rules seem pretty average really. I mean, it should be possible to use the refund due towards any qantas booking (not just basic ow/returns etc)

And you shouldnt have to pay to use phone service if the booking you want is a valid qantas booking (but not available online).
