Hi (first proper post -be nice!), I was lucky enough to score a JASA SYD-MEL-LHR later this year for the same as a classic award with a few hundred dollars thrown in, using that slide bar thing. I'm a WP and have flown J RTW once before for work (which was awesome BTW - got upgraded to First for LAX-MEL due to cancelled flight!) but this is the first one I have (sort of) paid for so am a bit excited.

The question is, the flight is out of MLB (QF9) so am transferring from SYD earlier that day meaning I miss out on quality time in the SYD F Lounge, and I am wondering what the chances would be for calling up QANTAS and requesting that the SYD-MEL leg goes the day before (am totally flexible with timing the day before)? This way I could catch up with Melbourne friends and then get to the MLB F Lounge (which I have never been to) in enough time to really appreciate it!

Thoughts? Both flights are U Class. BTW I don't mind a small penalty but wouldn't be worth a big one.

Thanks

QF9 departs MEL at 1530 so this would still allow you ample time in the MEL Flounge, if on a morning flight out of SYD. In saying that, I don't think QF would have too much of a problem changing to an earlier flight, but as you mention, I would not wish to pay too much of a penalty to do it

It really depends upon the fare rules (presumably you took a copy at the time of booking).

Some allow free changes (+ service fee), some come at a cost.

I had a similar issue with a MEL-xSYD-SIN flight - U class was available on an earlier flight but it would have cost $331 each (+ service fee) to change.
