We have some Kiwi dollars and Thai baht left over from recent trips, and little prospect of being able to use them in their native habitats for some time - would appreciate your expert advice on where to get the best exchange rate and lowest exchange fee in Melbourne when exchanging them for good old Aussie Dollars.

That reminds me...I need to look for NZ cash leftover from my trip last year....edit: found NZD$192:mrgreen: That should cover my airport transfer and my first day in Akl!

We have a jar in the back of the pantry where foreign currency / notes live until they are useful again. If only I'd checked before I went to NZ last week...

Try UAE Exchange

Unless you have a significant amount I would hang on to them until the next trip.

Some of the exchange places around Brisbane and Sydney make my eyes water. e.g They sell THB for ~37 and buy it back for ~27. The current exchange is 32 baht/AUD and they are making a fortune.

The exchange rates are obscene. I am seriously thinking about retiring and opening up a currency exchange business that had realistic margins, not the joke that one sees everywhere, but I am afraid the mafia would try to silence me very quickly....
